Hanrahanding
it over, again.
"This is very disappointing, discouraging and deflating. There is nothing worse in a game than to be winning it for eight innings, do everything right and lose it in the ninth. That sucks the energy out of everybody."
(Manny Acta, via Nationals dot com, 4/18/2009)
You know it's going bad when even Mr. Positive can't bring himself to sugar coat it.
Marlins 9, Nationals 6: But look on the bright side, at least they got the spelling right on the jerseys this time.
Effing Marlins.
That's what they call snatching defeat from the jaws of victory: another nightmare ninth for Joel Hanrahan. Days like this make us long for the golden days of The Chief - granted, he'd give you a heart attack almost every time, but he got the job done.
More good news: Bernadina joins Guz on the DL.
Tomorrow, we'll get to the dumb decision to bench Dukes for being 5 minutes late. Who's driving this clown car, anyway?
Need to move Tavarez to the 8th inning and Beimel to close.

jcd - as crazy as it sounds, we're not ready to pull the plug on Hanrahan yet - and hopefully the Nats aren't, either. He's a work in progress...a project...and that's what the Nats knew going into the season with only a few save opportunities under his belt from 2008. That said, these last two days have been brutal, huh?
