Stan got his wish.
Now what?

"The team, the fans and media can now turn all of their attention from the distractions off-the-field to where it belongs, on the baseball field for the Washington Nationals and their upcoming 2009 championship season." (Jim Bowden's Official Statement, via Nationals dot com, 3/1/2009)

"[For (expletive deleted) sake, whatever you do, don't turn your attention to the baseball field!] He did something, as he said, in the best interests of the franchise. I know none of us are perfect and none of us bats 1.000, and certainly any mistakes he made here during his tenure are well chronicled. But I think there's been an abundance of piling on during his time. You really all should take account of the things he did while he was here under very difficult conditions." (Stan Kasten, via Washington Times, 3/1/2009)

Stan's at the wheel.

Kasten, Nats execs, meet this morning in Viera to begin looking for other distractions to prevent fans from paying attention to the team on the field.

In an attempt to fill the distraction void, the Nationals are reportedly preparing to fire Elijah Dukes' personal handler (James Williams), are considering installing a deep fryer between the respective lockers of Nick Johnson and Dmitri Young.

Stan's got all the control now; as he "gathers the troops" this morning in Viera, where do they go from here?
