(Photo of TV/MASN by Nationals Enquirer staff. One lasting image from Thursday night's rain-soaked marathon in Colorado was of Mike Rizzo sitting in the rain by himself watching the game. Exhibit 300a.1.4 proving Mike Rizzo is not Jim Bowden.)
"We are just not prepared to commit to any player yet. We are scouting them up to June 7 and probably will not make a decision until soon before that. I wouldn't say we are leaning toward anybody. We are leaning toward a handful of people."

[Insert diabolical Scott Boras laugh-track here.]
MLB.com's Bill Ladson caught up with Mike Rizzo on Thursday. The Rizzonator is clearly trying to be nonchalant about the Nationals inevitable #1 selection in the 2010 draft, but he's not fooling anybody. Including Scott Boras, who is no doubt getting ready to tell Ted Lerner to assume the position.
Rizzo also claims to have no qualms about Bryce Harper's makeup -- seems he likes the kid's aura:
"We have no problem with Bryce Harper's character...Makeup is huge. Makeup allows your talent to come forth and make it all the way to the Major Leagues. Talent without character doesn't work. Your lack of character will make you stumble somewhere along the line."

Meanwhile...
Crap. Friday night's game has been postponed due to rain: doubleheader Saturday. That means the best we can hope for is a Phillies loss in Milwaukee tonight, shrinking that lead to a half-game: first place will have to wait another day.

Love Rizzo's hoodie look. Jim Bowden would never wear a hoodie (let alone step outside in the rain) for fear of messing up his hair!

Helen Keller knows that we are taking Harper
It isn't even close.
He is far and away the best pick and the most talented player. Franchise player that doesn't ACTUALLY come along often.
