Of course, the main story from Saturday afternoon was Livo being outdueled by Ubaldo Jimenez again. But the key sidebar, of course, is that Brian Bruney broke out his blowtorch again (1.0 IP, 2 H, 3 ER, 2 BB. 22 pitches, 10 strikes), turning a 3-2 game into a 6-2 hole in the 8th inning. And just from watching/reading Jim Riggleman's postgame comments after the first game of Saturday's doubleheader, it doesn't seem likely that Brian Bruney will be stinking it up in Washington much longer.
"We've seen that too many times. The first [two] hitters walked. He almost got out of it, but it just wasn't good enough...
We have to talk about [a roster move], because you have to be able to use your guys. If you are down in the game -- I look for one inning there -- you have to hold the fort there. The walks are hurting him, and he has to find a way to make an adjustment. If it wasn't a doubleheader day, we would handle things differently."
