(That's just Nyjer being Nyjer on Friday night. Nyjer Morgan's ill-fated stolen base attempt in the 2nd inning with two outs and John Lannan at the plate. Screengrab of TV/MASN by Nationals Enquirer staff.)
"That's his game.I can't ask him to hit eighth but don't run. I really thought he would get that base. The pitcher wasn't real quick to the plate. But the catcher made a great throw, and he got him. That's Nyjer's game. I can't take that away from him."

Uh, yes you can take that away from him, Jim.
"It was the wrong time to steal, and I think he kind of did in spite of us. You don't allow a pitcher to be the first batter of the next inning. With all that happened, I think he kind of wants to put it to us a little bit. I would, too. I'm just glad it worked out for us. I knew it was the wrong situation, but it was the wrong situation for him to steal after we hit that time."

Marlins 3, Nationals 1: No punches thrown, no fireworks. Another quality start by Lannan, another no-show by the Nats' bats against the Marlins.
Never forget.
