Ryan Zimmerman got a taste of what it must be like to face Stephen Strasburg's 101 MPH fastball against Justin Verlander on Wednesday night in Detroit. Can't find video anywhere online this morning, but the screengrabs above capture the sixth inning strikeout in all its glory. Just sick. Now that you're feeling bad for Zim, go vote for him for the All-Star game.
Verlander's line on Wednesday: 8.0 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 0 BB, 11 K, 2 HR, 116 pitches. Wonder if we'll ever see Strasburg throw 116 pitches in a game for the Nationals?

At first I was going to question this after MASN put "103" during Strasburg's start, but it turns out the reading is legit. According to pitch f/x, that ball was thrown at 100.7 mph, about .3 higher than Strasburg's thrown so far. Nice. Should we ask for a refund?
