(Photo of TV by Nationals Enquirer staff. Matt Capps nailed down his first save with the Nationals on Thursday, ensuring that the Nationals will not go 0-162 this year.)
"There were a few more nerves going out in that save situation. Everything felt good today. I threw the ball well. ... Today felt good."

Whew! Win #1 sure didn't come easy.
Nationals 6, Phillies 5: If there's such a thing as a must-win game 3 games into a 162-game season, this was it.
Matt Capps made things really *really* interesting in the 9th. Same goes for Bruney in the 8th.
Nats finally get lucky: Zimmerman's game-winning bloop double on the RF foul line in the 7th is the kind of thing that never goes the Nats way. Thank you, Baseball Gods.
Meanwhile...

It sounds like Steve McCatty is ready to snap over all the walks.

Syracuse wins its AAA Opener on a walkoff single by Pete Orr.

Onward to NY for three cupcakes against the Mets. Nats take 2/3 easily...
