Just trying to hammer out some things and lay foundations and, you know, try to do things for the future. ...I wouldn't categorize anything as imminent to be done, nor do I feel it important to get done by the end of these meetings.... If we leave here doing nothing else, we certainly have a lot of irons in the fire for stuff down the road this winter."

Mostly quiet in Indy yesterday...
Rizzo still chasing down starting pitching, rumored to include Jon Garland, Jarrod Washburn, Joel PiƱeiro, Vicente Padilla, Jason Marquis, John Smoltz, and of course, Livan Hernandez.
Why do we get the feeling that once everything shakes out and all of the aforementioned names end up with contenders, the Nats will be welcoming back Livo to Washington?
Meanwhile, Scott Boras talked about the Pudge Rodriguez deal yesterday- what he forgot to mention is that Rizzo owed him one for Strasburg, the real reason for that second year.
"It was a decision where Pudge wanted to stay there for a couple of years, and that's what it took to bring him there, because everybody else was offering higher value on a one-year basis."
