"We want to...get a little respect around the league. You only do that by winning ballgames. Every game you win gets you a little closer to getting the respect that you deserve for all the hard work you put in. Our guys really work hard."

No Clip n' Save? Just Grip n' Pray!
Nationals 3, Mets 2: A night without Clippard and Capps means a white-knuckled night with Slaten, Walker, Burnett, Bruney, Batista...and it all worked out.
Birthday Boy Luis Atilano survives big first inning jam, gets first hit, earns 3rd win. His line: 5.1 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 5 K.
Still can't believe the Nationals survived Brian Bruney entering the game in the bottom of the eighth with a 3-1 lead, one out and two on. And that wild pitch.
"When we lace it up, we're going to give you nine innings of hell."

When HE laces it up, HE's usually going to give the Nationals one inning of hell. But maybe Bruney has finally turned the corner?
Good to see the "Plan B" bullpen finally do something more useful than shining shoes, and let Clippard and Capps get some rest.
Nats grab sole possession of second place in NL East, now four games over .500 since September of 2005.
