(AP Photo/Al Behrman. That's two - count 'em - two good starts in a row from Garrett Mock. And to think we wanted him bussed back to Syracuse just three starts ago.)
"He's gotten a little better each time out. But today, I thought, was his best."

Belliard + Nieves = Firepower!
Nationals 2, Reds 0: 3-game losing skid, snapped. Mock tosses six shutout innings, Interim Jim lets him work through big jams in 5th and 6th.
Make that: 2 career HRs for Wil Nieves. Who? Wil Nieves! Nats remain undefeated when Nieves homers, dating back to 2008. Hopefully this doesn't mean we'll be subjected to another one of those Wil Nieves Defining Moments ads on MASN.
Zim's hit streak, dead at 16.

Maybe the most surprising aspect of the Washington Times report yesterday that Ted Lerner, Stan Kasten, and Mike Rizzo travelled to California last week to meet with Stephen Strasburg is not that Boras let the Nats' meet with his client, it's that Ted and Stan let Acting Mike tag along. Or maybe that alleged GM search is just a sham, and Mike's their man afterall?

Fire Mike Rizzo. Can't believe he decided to keep Guz around.
