Washington Senators 6, Tigers 5: Good luck in the Bronx?
So: are Nationals fans supposed to root for, or against, the Twins, considering the overdone sob story of how the Washington Senators were shipped out to Minnesota at the end of the 1960 season, only to be replaced with the expansion Washington Senators (who eventually became the Texas Rangers in 1972)? Given that the Washington Post's Tom Boswell is probably the only person still holding a grudge for the Senators skipping town twice, it's probably okay for Nats fans to cheer on the Twins. And don't forget ex-Nats, now Twins, Jon Rauch & Brendan Harris. So, until they get eliminated, we're Washington Senators fans.

I'm holding a grudge, I grew up here without a team, so I'll always root against the Twins and Rangers.

So, I signed of for the season and you immediately posted something garanteed to make me respond. I lived through the pain of losing Senators II and 33 years worth of "You don't deserve another team" rants from ignorant people who knew nothing of the outrageous circumstances of both Senators' franchise moves. Go up to B'more and ask anyone up there if now that the Ravens are in town if it's OK to root for the Colts. You know what that answer will be - if you live long enough to hear it. To root for the Twins and Rangers is to validate the sleeze ballery of Bob Short and the Griffiths.
I'll watch the playoffs, but I am most definitely not looking forward to the perverse version of baseball played in the Dome and the insufferable Homer Hankies. They're back .... I hate those things more than the stupid California Rally Monkeys. I would sooner root for the Dallas Cowbows - ghack! So I say, Gooooo Yankees!

Don't forget Da MeatHook's brother.

My Dad will root for them, but still is bitter and holds ill will towards that franchise for leaving town. Insult to injury was the trave-sham-mockery of a team we got in return.
I was raised a Senators fan despite there being no team. I actually rooted for the Twins because of the Senators connection, and having family up there. Then I formally decided to root for the Expos. Weird stuff.
And anyways, whoever the Yankees are playing I can root for, right?

Oooooooh we seemed to have touched a nerve there, DMan: Welcome back! "To root for the Twins and Rangers is to validate the sleeze ballery of Bob Short and the Griffiths." Well said!
What can we say? We're just a bunch of carpetbaggers here at the Nationals Enquirer ... we can only try to understand your pain, but at the end of the day we don't feel it. But maybe a little sensitivity training is in order this winter? I believe there have been a bunch of books on the Senators published in recent years - any recommendations?

@WA2CHI: But that might be another reason *not* to root for the Twins, right? His big bro fleeced the Nats for a cool $10 mil this season...not that it's my money.
@ckstevenson: Interesting that you Dad will still root for the Twins after all these years, given the bitterness. And yes: whoever the Yankees are playing you can root for, no questions asked.
