"We are not pursuing Manny Ramirez."
(Jim Bowden, via Nationals dot com, 2/3/2009)
"We respect Manny Ramirez as one of the best hitters of our era. However, based on our plan on building a franchise, we have not and are not going to be making him an offer."
(Jim Bowden, via Nationals Journal, 2/3/2009)
Phew! The Plan Lives!
God forbid the Nationals try to do something to make the Major League product watchable for the next season or two.
NAAAts deny pursuit of Manny - just "monitoring the situation" like the rest of us.
Meanwhile, Adam Dunn still has no interest in signing with Washington. Let's face it: Dunn isn't coming here.
Enjoy the video above. Replace all the Dodger jerseys with Nats' jerseys and replace about half the fans with empty seats, and that's what it would be like to have Manny mashing at Nationals Park this summer. Hey, at least we've still got The Plan! And Alex Cintron & Javier Valentin!
You say you just saw the Nationals play? The Washington Nationals? Why, they've been dead for 10 years...
