SERIOUS STUFF
"He said he felt a pop on his right knee, and that's serious stuff"
(Manny Acta, via Washington Post, 7/06/2008)
It's the worst news for Dukes, Nats: His knee is f#cked up. Doesn't sound good: Meniscus tear and partial tear of the patella tendon. Surgery scheduled for Monday. Out four-to-six weeks, which, converted to Nationals' DL-time means: see you in 2009, Elijah.
We've watched the clip (above) a few times, and still can't figure out exactly what happened. [UPDATE 12:26PM: Dukes tells Nationals Journal he has no idea what happened, either]:
"As I went to turn, I felt the pop, and I just told myself to make sure I make the catch at least... But the pop came before the catch. I don't know how. I didn't feel a twist or nothing, so I guess you could say it was a freak accident. I didn't twist my ankle."
Washington Times says Casto's coming back: why not give Alex Escobar a shot?
This Team is cursed.
